Tyres & Punctures — frequently asked questions
Can my puncture be repaired or do I need a new tyre?
A puncture can usually be repaired if it's in the central three-quarters of the tread, smaller than 6 mm, and the tyre hasn't been run flat. Sidewall damage or a run-flat driven deflated means replacement. We tell you honestly which it is.
What's the legal tyre tread depth in the UK?
1.6 mm across the central three-quarters of the tread. Below that risks a fine of up to £2,500 and 3 points per tyre. We recommend replacing at 3 mm — wet grip drops sharply below that.
Do you fit tyres while I wait?
Yes — most tyre fittings and puncture repairs are done while you wait. Call ahead on 07359 070 779 so we can have your size ready.
Why do my front tyres wear on the inside edge?
Almost always wheel alignment or worn suspension components. We check alignment before fitting new tyres so the new set doesn't suffer the same fate.
