Exhaust Repair, Catalytic Converter & DPF Cleaning in Salford
A blowing exhaust, a blocked DPF or a failing catalytic converter will fail your MOT, sap your power and cost you fuel. SS ADAM LTD repairs and replaces complete exhaust systems and specialises in DPF (diesel particulate filter) cleaning and unblocking — often saving drivers the four-figure cost of a new filter.
We weld repairs where a repair is honest and safe, and replace only what actually needs replacing, with a fixed written quote first.

Exhaust & DPF — frequently asked questions
My DPF warning light is on — do I need a new filter?
Usually not. Most blocked DPFs can be cleaned or force-regenerated for a fraction of the cost of replacement. The key is acting quickly — a filter that's ignored for weeks can become unrecoverable.
Why does my diesel keep blocking its DPF?
Short, slow journeys never get the filter hot enough to self-clean. There can also be an underlying cause — a faulty EGR valve, injector or sensor — which we diagnose so the problem doesn't come straight back.
Is removing the DPF legal?
No — removing a DPF is illegal for road use in the UK and an automatic MOT failure. We don't do DPF deletes; we fix the system properly.
How do I know if my catalytic converter is failing?
Symptoms include an emissions MOT failure, rattling from under the car, sulphur (rotten egg) smell and reduced performance. We test before we replace — cats are expensive and sometimes the real fault is a sensor.
